The Applegate Valley Business Association (AVBA) is a group of business owners living and working in the Applegate Valley. The group is designed to allow people to participate in the AVBA’s meetings and activities to the extent they wish. The main goals of the AVBA are 1) To facilitate networking of local business owners, 2) To promote the “Shop Local” concept, 3) and to encourage tourism in the Applegate Valley. The group is currently working toward these goals in several ways including a Local Business Directory, Welcome Baskets delivered to new folks moving into the area, and a comprehensive website detailing the interests and activities in the Applegate Valley.
The Local Business Directory includes businesses located in the Applegate Valley or businesses in town owned by Applegate Valley residents. The directory is included in the Welcome Baskets and the most updated version is located on the website in a searchable and a printable form.
Along with the directory, the Welcome Baskets include (as available) a copy of the Applegator, the NRCS’s Rural Living booklet, the Woodland Owner booklet, and informational brochures, menus, coupons, and gifts from local businesses and non-profit groups. These baskets are assembled by local business folks and delivered by neighborhood representatives (when available) or other volunteers.
The Website was recently launched and is still undergoing major construction. It is a group effort with individuals working on areas that interest them as their busy schedules allow. Currently, the useful features of the site include activities in the Applegate, the Local Business Directory, a featured local business, an area of promotions offered by local businesses, and an interactive bulletin board. The bulletin board offers an easy to use public section where anyone can post items for sale, announcements, etc. and an area for local business to post information about sales and promotions. The site is designed to be dynamic and has great potential to offer valuable information to residents and visitors alike. The more people providing ideas, information, and section maintenance time, the better the site will be!
All participants in the AVBA have busy lifestyles with limited time for outside groups. The AVBA welcomes and appreciates participation at any level and is always open to new ideas.
